Troy S. Willis - Chief Warrant Officer 3, United States Army, Louisiana National Guard.

Chief Warrant Officer III Troy Shawn Willis is a twenty year veteran of the United States Army, On October 3rd, 2000 Mr. Willis enlisted in the United States Army as a Petroleum Supply Specialist. after eight years of military service he was afforded the opportunity to be an Army Aviator. On November 19, 2008 Chief Willis left his hometown of New Orleans Louisiana and begin his career as an Army Helicopter Pilot. After approximately 2 years of intense academic and performance training Mr. Willis was Commissioned as a UH60 Blackhawk Pilot holding the rank of WO1. He is currently assigned to the 1-244th Assault Helicopter Battalion in Hammond Louisiana and serves as the Battalion’s Aviation Maintenance Officer, responsible for the organizations helicopter readiness and the training of all its maintainers and junior maintenance officers. His Military Achievements include. The Army Accommodation Medal 3rd Award, The Army Achievement Medal 2nd Award, The Armed Forces Service Medal, Louisiana Emergency Service Ribbon 15th award and the Louisiana War Cross third award, to name a few. Mr. Willis has served overseas in Kuwait, Iraq, and Syria. In 2017 Mr. Willis deployed in response to Operation Spartan Shield where he flew over 200 Combat hours and countless missions.

Prior to becoming a Pilot Mr. Willis was an assistant Store Manager for Wal-Mart stores Inc. A title he achieved after only 2 years of work experience. During his tenure he took an active interest in the community efforts that his Chalmette store was involved in and vowed that he would too one day lead an organization in that same manner but in a larger capacity.

Mr Willis, the 3rd of Nine Siblings, has been a resident of Madisonville Louisiana for 5 years but is a New Orleanian at heart. He spent all of his childhood and majority of his adult life in areas such as Downtown, Lafitte housing projects and on the Westbank, Fischer Housing Development where he witnessed firsthand the plagues that trouble communities like these. Mr. Willis was born at Touro Infirmary on Nov. 19, 1982 and was raised in a single parent home until he was in his teens. Mr. Willis is a graduate of John F. Kennedy Senior High School. His education also includes an Bachler’s Degree in Business Administration from The University of Phoenix. He holds a Commercial Rotary Wing certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and certifications in UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter, TH-67 helicopter, EC145, and the S-70 Helicopter.

Mr. Willis serves as a Deacon at the Greater Old Zion Missionary Baptist Church where he has been a member since the age of nine. He is under the tutelage and leadership of his pastor and brother in Christ Rev. Mat E. Turner 1.
